Despite the wind, snow, and frigid temperatures in March, Steppingstone Scholars were thinking about their plans for the summer!
On the cold morning of March 3rd (after a nor’easter), nearly 200 Steppingstone Scholars (in grades 6-11), parents/guardians, and siblings attended Steppingstone’s first-ever Step Into Summer Fair!
The Step Into Summer Fair is a new initiative focused on providing Steppingstone Scholars and families with resources for career readiness. Steppingstone encourages all Scholars to take full advantage of their summers by learning and engaging in new experiences!
Over 20 representatives from organizations in Boston attended the fair to share information about the summer programs, camps, jobs, and volunteer opportunities available. Many Scholars walked away with an initial list of summer options to kick-off their search!
High school Scholars and families were also invited to practice their interview skills and received immediate feedback within 30 minutes. Volunteers were so impressed by Scholars during interviews, they would have considered hiring several of them for their company!
High school Scholars who already had a resume received support in spicing it up. Those did not have one yet, learned the basics of a resume and started creating one.
Special thanks to Scribe America for providing support and volunteers to conduct practice interviews, and The Links, Incorporated, for recruiting volunteers to support Scholars on resumes, and providing refreshments and amazing raffle prizes!
