After spending the school year working hard in and out of the classroom, Scholars had a chance to unwind at the annual “SMASH Bash!”
SMASH – Saturday Mentoring And Study Hall – is a key component of the support Steppingstone provides during Scholars’ middle and high school careers. Every Saturday during the school year, Scholars can come to Boston Latin Academy for homework help, tutoring, and fun workshops and social activities.
Before the party started, newly commenced Scholars had the chance to meet older Scholars and see SMASH in action. The festivities then kicked off with a social hour featuring games and activities planned by Steppingstone’s own Peer Leaders, who even set up a prize station where Scholars could turn in the tickets they had won for prizes like candy, selfie sticks, and yo-yos. A highlight of the day was the “Duckie, Duckie, Where’s My Duckie?” race, which had everyone laughing.
After lunch, Scholars with the highest SMASH attendance received awards, and everyone took a moment to thank the dedicated volunteers who devote their Saturday mornings to helping hardworking Scholars excel. A total of 70 Scholars attended the bash and had a great time.
